| | | | | | | | EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: | As part of the City's Mosquito Control Program, the Public Works Department is responsible for procuring services from a qualified vector control company for Mosquito Spraying Services. The scope of this contract provides for weekly mosquito control sprayings, as needed, beginning in May and going through October. The spraying treatment typically begins after 9:00 p.m. on Friday evenings and concludes before sunrise. The City may request more frequent spray cycles as necessary during the year if required. In addition to the mosquito spraying, City staff perform a larvicide treatment of drainage ditches and storm sewer systems to help control and reduce the mosquito population. Trained and licensed personnel in Public Works administer the larvicide treatment.
On June 15, 2022, Invitation to Bid (ITB) No. 2022-21 was advertised for bids. On June 30, 2022 one bid was received and evaluated. The one bid received was by the incumbent contractor. The bid received is based on a price per cycle cost.

The qualified low bidder is Cypress Creek Pest Control. This contract is a renewable contract structured as a five year agreement, which includes the initial one-year term plus four additional opportunities to automatically renew each year. Funding for this contract is available through the Public Works Streets and Drainage Division-Operations & Maintenance Budget with a total budget of $195,552.00 for Fiscal Year 2023. Utilizing the total budget allows for 30 cycles of routine spraying, and 6 cycles of rotational chemical spraying.
