The FY23 Sugar Land Police Department includes funds allocated towards the purchase of the thirty two (32) police radars which includes thirty radars scheduled for replacement and two new radars for a new K-9 program.
Applied Concepts, Inc., (d.b.a. Stalker Radar) is a premier source for handheld radar guns, dash-mount radar, police lidar guns, and traffic photo enforcement equipment, and a preferred vendor for radar equipment within the City of Sugar Land.
The pricing, terms and conditions are supported by the BuyBoard cooperative purchasing contract No. 608-20. Cooperative Agreements are with governmental purchasing organizations. These agreements leverage the purchasing potential of governmental entities. All contracts are competitively bid, and contracts are awarded in compliance with state procurement laws and regulations.
The total cost of the purchase of the thirty two police motor vehicle radars is $94,520.76. Consistent with State Law, purchases over $50,000 must be approved by City Council.
The Police Department recommends that the City Council authorizes the execution of a contract with Applied Concepts, Inc., (d.b.a. Stalker Radar), in the amount of $94,520.76 through BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Agreement No. 608-20 for the purchase of thirty two (32) police radars.
