| | | | | | | | | EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: | The City of Sugar Land (City) has utilized VMware since 2015. The Information Technology (IT) Department uses VMware to provide digital services to staff and the public. VMware virtualization software changes the way we provide computing resources by distributing the work of a given virtual server across multiple physical hosts and enables each physical host to run multiple virtual server instances. Virtualization provides for the expanded use of technology and efficient services to the organization.
The contract with TanChes Global Management Inc., under the cooperative purchasing contract of the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR), DIR-TSO-4288, will allow the City to purchase licenses and support for the continued use of the City's virtual machine environment. Funds for this purchase are budgeted in the FY23 IT Operating Budget.
The Information Technology Department recommends that the City Council approve a contract with TanChes Global Management Inc., under DIR Contract, DIR-TSO-4288, in the amount of $60,591.09 to purchase VMware licenses and support. |
