EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The City currently owns approximately 1200 acres of parkland along the Brazos River. Staff has been in discussions with the George Foundation regarding receiving a donation of 125.753 acres of Brazos River floodway property that they own. This tract is located between two existing City-owned parkland properties.

Staff will provide a presentation highlighting the benefits of acquiring this property for future park development and linking to existing trails and facilities at Memorial Park. The property is identified in the Brazos River Corridor Master Plan as a desired land acquisition opportunity.

The Parks Dept. and Legal Dept. worked with the George Foundation to draft a Capital Donation Agreement that outlines the aspects of the land donation, including a Donation Special Warranty Deed (Exhibit A), Legal Description and Boundary Map (Exhibit B), and the George Foundation Grant Contract (Exhibit C).

The Land does not have any existing facilities or structures to operate or maintain. The property value of this very generous donation is $310,000.00.
