The Sugar Land Legacy Foundation (SLLF) is a 501(c)3 that works on behalf of the City of Sugar Land to promote community investment in large-scale quality-of-life projects. These projects commemorate, transform and celebrate the Sugar Land community. On behalf of the Legacy Foundation, staff is pleased to present a request to accept a donation for the following project:
T. E. Harman Center Recreation Improvements
A generous stock donation in the cash amount of $13,000.00, the third donation from T.E. Harman Center members Drs. Alan and Antoinette Cramer will fund further T.E. Harman Center improvements.
In December 2018, the Cramers made their first donation of stock in the cash amount of $57,064.86. This donation was used primarily to develop a fitness space in the existing library of the Senior Center and was completed in April 2020. In January 2021, the Cramers made their second donation of stock in the cash amount of $18,856.66, which was used to enhance the outdoor patio area.
This year’s donation will be used to continue to enhance the patio area. Multiple ceiling fans will be installed to increase user comfort throughout the year. In addition, a portion of the donation will be applied to the interior design of the foyer in the T.E. Harman Center. The entryway foyer is the focal point of all members and prospective members when they enter the facility. The improvements will provide a bright and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors to the Center. The improvements include a new piece of furniture for the seating area and a new activity flyer dispenser. The implementation of new items will freshen up the interior and modernize the aesthetics of the facility. The total anticipated cost for the renovations and equipment is not to exceed $13,000.00.
Staff recommends to accept a donation, not to exceed $13,000.00, for T.E. Harman Center recreation improvements; and approval of a budget amendment in the amount of $13,000.00 to the existing account.
