| | | | | | | | EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: | A renovation of the City Hall IT suite to expand is essential for accommodating the growing staff and needed for providing ample storage, ensuring enhanced operational efficiency, streamlining workflows, and for providing optimal support for the City's technological advancements.
Blue Ox Construction, Inc. is a Choice Partners Vendor under a Cooperative Agreement with the City of Sugar Land and was chosen to complete this work in the IT Department and the original contract amount was estimated under $50,000.00. The project began as soon as a contract was approved with Blue Ox Construction, Inc.
The original scope of work for this project included the following:
- Remove interior door and expand doorway
- Frame partition wall to divide space in storage area
- Divide lighting circuit for new office space and storage room and add individual light switches
- Install two new LED 2x4 lights
- Wet Grind concrete floor to achieve a clean and refined concrete slab
- Install rubber cove base
- Reinstall existing door and hardware
- Reinstall card reader
- Paint walls
- Apply writable paint to one wall
- Final Cleaning
Change Order No. 1 was initiated and approved, which included the following work:
- Furnish and Install exit button and motion detector instead of installing the card reader that was originally used to exit the door.
Change Order No. 2 was initiated by the City's Fire Department. After the area went through a permit review, it was discovered that in order to meet code compliance, additional sprinkler heads are needed within this project area. In addition, the required additional electrical work is also included in this change order. In order to meet code compliance for the new IT area, Change Order No. 2 will include the following scope of work:
- Alter existing fire sprinkler system to protect the proposed floor plan
- Install 6 duplex receptacles
- Install 2 port and 1 port data outlets
- Install 2 fire alarm strobe speakers
- Include project engineering, design and fire alarm permit
The total contract amount will be increased to $51,164.10 with Change Order No.2 of $13,547.38.
The Engineering and IT Departments recommend approval of a Contract Amendment with Blue Ox Construction, Inc., in the amount of $13,547.38, from O&M Gen Gov - IT Admin Fund to the City Hall IT Apps Room Remodel Contract No. 3230874, bringing the total contract amount to $51,164.10 |
