Consideration of and action on authorization of a Three-Year Contract with Johnston Technical Services, Inc., DBA JTS, in the amount of $240,000.00 through the Texas Department of Information Resources Cooperative Purchasing Contract No.4792, for Three Tier Wireless System maintenance.

Authorize the execution of a maintenance contract with Johnston Technical Services, Inc. for Three Tier Wireless maintenance in the amount of $240,000.00 for a Three-Year Contract.

The City of Sugar Land's Three Tier Wireless System provides connectivity from the City's Traffic Management Center to every traffic signalized intersection throughout the City (over 70 locations).  The Three Tier Wireless System also supports the City's Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) which helps manage traffic through real time monitoring, remote access, and data collection.  In addition to traffic management, the Three Tier Wireless System backbone provides wireless access for the Public Safety License Plate Recognition (LPR) system and the Utilities Department Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) communications.

• Troubleshooting of all communication issues and making necessary adjustments, configurations, or repairs as needed at traffic signal intersections, high sites, and/or network server/rooms.
• Field support, which includes but is not limited to, installation of equipment, connection to conductors and/or power supplies, testing devices, configuring switches and backups, and logging all findings and activities.
• Equipment will include, but is not limited to, cameras, detectors, controller cabinets, data conductors, electrical conductors, fiber optic cable, switches, battery backup, a/c units, microwave radios and antennas, pull boxes, and conduit.

The Information Technology Department recommends that the City Council authorize the contract with Johnston Technical Services to maintain the Three Tier Wireless System, in the amount of $80,000.00 per year, for a total contract cost of $240,000.00 for three years utilizing DIR-CPO-4792.
