The University Blvd corridor has been experiencing tremendous growth in traffic in the past 15 years, and the University Blvd intersection at US 59/IH69 has become critical to mobility. The 2013 and 2017 Fort Bend County Mobility Bonds approved cost-sharing for widening the segment of University Blvd from New Territory Blvd to Lexington Blvd. The 2020 Fort Bend County Mobility Bond added funding for the intersection improvements along University Blvd at Wescott Ave and Branford Pl.
This project will replace signals that are aging along the University Blvd corridor inside the limits of the University Blvd widening project area, to allow for improved visibility of the signals related to the roadway widening to improve safety along the corridor.
City staff followed City Policy PU-109 to select a consultant for the project. Alliance Transportation Group, LLC. (ATG) was selected from the Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) library maintained by the Engineering department.
