The Airport continues to see larger aircraft being served at the FBO, such as the Gulfstream and Global Express. In the last 10 years, the Airport has increased in fuel sales volume by 48%. Consequently, the FBO needs additional Ground Power Units (GPUs) in order to provide power to the aircraft while on the ground, enabling operational systems, AC/heat, and engine start without using onboard power, reducing fuel consumption and wear. The Airport submitted a budget request for FY25 to purchase an additional GPU with a budget of $89,000.
The purchase was advertised via OpenGov on December 25, 2024, as ITB No. 2025-ITB-020, and we received (1) bid from Pilot John International for a Tronair GPU priced at $100,220. This exceeds the budget by $11,220.
We are confident that a GPU meeting the required specifications can be sourced within the allocated budget. Therefore, we propose reopening the bidding process to obtain a more cost-effective solution.
Airport staff recommends rejecting all bids received under (ITB) No. 2025-ITB-020.
