Houston Engineers Week recognizes that service to the public as a professional engineer is a noble and worthy profession.
Each year the Houston Engineers Week Committee selects an engineering professional who has significantly contributed to the profession and the Houston area.
Lee Lennard, PE, F.SAME, President and CEO of BGE, Inc., has been named the 2025 Houston Engineer of the Year. Through his 37-year career, Lee has made lasting contributions to the profession through technical innovation, strategic leadership, and civic engagement. BGE Inc., has tripled in size and expanded its reach to five states since Lee was appointed President and CEO in 2014.
Lee is a recognized expert in flood control issues and an active advocate in the engineering community. Through his leadership with the West Houston Association, Lee most recently led the creation of “Houston Stronger,” a broad coalition of business and community leaders dedicated to working with government officials to fund and implement a comprehensive regional flood and storm resiliency plan to safeguard citizens, property, and the environment.
BGE, Inc., has contributed their services on a number of projects within the city of Sugar Land such as Constellation Field; Ground Water Plant Rehabilitation, CIP WA2404; SH 6 Widening Project, CIP ST1404; Greatwood Utility Project; development of Telfair; and design of the Brazos River Park Phase 1 & 2, PK1104 & PK1507.
