| | | | | | | | EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: | The City of Sugar Land is supporting National Bike Month by proclaiming May 2018 as Bike Month in Sugar Land. Since 1956, May has been recognized as National Bike Month. National Bike Month was established to encourage people to ride for fun, exercise and transportation and to promote safe bicycling. Bike Month helps promote awareness of cycling and reminds motorists, pedestrians and cyclists to be safe and to share the roads, trails and sidewalks.
The City of Sugar Land and Shape Up Fort Bend are joining the efforts of the League of American Bicyclists and Bike Texas by holding the annual Bike to Work and School Day on Friday, May 11th. The event and proclamation are one of many steps being taken to implement the encouragement recommendations of the Pedestrian & Bicycle Master Plan and to fulfill the goal of the Comprehensive Mobility Plan, which is to provide transportation choices that promote a healthy and active lifestyle. For more information on this year's Bike to Work and School Day, please visit http://www.sugarlandtx.gov/1236/Bike-to-Work-School-Day.
The Public Works Department request that the City Council proclaim May 2018 as Bike Month in the City of Sugar Land. |
