On June 5, 2018, City Council approved Resolution 18-21 appointing nine members to a citizen-led Redistricting Advisory Committee.
The Committee held three public meetings (July 31, August 3, and August 14) and discussed seven plans. At their August 14th meeting, the Committee unanimously voted to recommend Plan 6 (with a few revisions) to City Council for their review and consideration.
As recommended, Plan 6 provides the following:
District 1: Comprises all City territory located north of Highway 90 plus whole election precincts 4042, 4121, and 4107.
District 2: Comprises the area between Highway 90 to the north, US 59 to the south and bounded on the east by Highway 6, and includes the portion of precinct 4080 located north of Highway 6. This District includes New Territory, Riverpark and Telfair.
District 3: Comprises the area generally south and east of US 59. It's boundary with District 4 is Steep Bank Creek. This District includes Austin Park, Colony Bend, Riverbend, Sugarwood, Oyster Point, Colony Grant, Colony Park, Settlers Grove, Settlers Park and Grants Lake.
District 4: Comprises the remaining area south and east of US 59 plus Greatwood. This District includes Colony Meadows, Sweetwater, Austin Park, Avalon, and Brazos Landing.
This Plan splits two interior county election precincts (4135 and 4158) along US 59 between Districts 2 and 4.
Plan deviation is 7.23%
