The Crown Festival Park at Sugar Land opened in March 2017 with the vision of being the location for large-scale, regional and cultural events while also building community, driving economic activity and growth, and enhancing residential quality of life.
Since the opening of The Crown Festival Park, several events – including the City’s 2017 Star Spangled Spectacular and the 2017 & 2018 Cultural Kite Festival, as well as a privately produced cultural event – have been held at this destination venue. Staff has also received multiple inquiries from producers interested in hosting a variety of regional events like fun runs, music festivals and cultural events. In order to ensure The Crown Festival Park is utilized as it was designed and intended, the goal is that any regional event at this location aligns with the City’s brand, raises the City’s profile and awareness, creates an opportunity for positive economic impact, and features reputable event producers with a proven track record of presenting large-scale events.
The purpose of tonight’s workshop is for staff to review the success of the venue to-date, highlight the types of event inquires and producer feedback received, and review and discuss the potential for two regional events at The Crown Festival Park occurring in 2019.
