AGENDA CAPTION:
Consideration of and action on the Preliminary Plat for Mozart Fluor Corporate Campus.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Approval of the Preliminary Plat of Mozart Fluor Corporate Campus with the following condition to be met prior to Final Platting:

  • City Council approval of PD Final Development Plan (Fluor Corporation Sugar Land Campus)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

This is a preliminary plat for the proposed Fluor corporate campus which consists of approximately 50 acres located along University Boulevard south of the Smart Financial Centre and Texas Instruments campus. This preliminary plat also includes a new public roadway which will serve the campus and will extend from the existing Lexington Boulevard through the proposed Fluor campus and then connect with University Boulevard. The name of the public street will be finalized with the Final Plat, but it is proposed on this preliminary plat as Mozart Way.

This Preliminary Plat is part of a proposed Final Development Plan for 50.309 acres known as the Fluor Corporation Sugar Land Campus. The Final Development Plan received a unanimous recommendation of approval from the Planning & Zoning Commission on October 25, 2018. City Council is anticipated to hold a public hearing and First Reading of the Ordinance on December 18, 2018. Staff anticipates the Ordinance for the Final Development Plan to be completed in early January 2019. Once the Ordinance for the Final Development Plan has been approved, the Commission will then review the Final Plat for this acreage. The Preliminary Plat as shown, is in compliance in terms of the proposed layout and access as found in the current proposed Final Development Plan that was recommended for approval by the Commission. Exhibit B-2.1, the Subdivision Plan, is provided as an attachment for reference as to the layout of the campus and proposed new public street. The Preliminary Plat is also consistent with the approved Telfair General Land Plan which shows this 50.309 acres as Office.

Staff recommends approval of the Preliminary Plat with the following condition to be met prior to Final Platting:
