PRESENTED BY: Abimbola Fadimu, Facilities Services Manager

RESPONSIBLE DEPARTMENT: Environmental and Neighborhood Services

AGENDA CAPTION:
Consideration of and action on authorizing execution of a Contract in the amount of $63,922.00 with Garland/DBS, Inc. for exterior building repairs to Public Works Building B.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:

The Environmental & Neighborhood Services Department requests consideration and approval of a contract with Garland/DBS, Inc. for the exterior building repairs at Public Works Building B in the amount of $63,922.00.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The Facilities Management Division of the Environmental & Neighborhood Services Department is charged with the repair and maintenance of all municipal buildings. As such, portions of the Public Works Building B have been experiencing leaks after rainfall events, specifically beneath the front wall panels of the building.  In order to protect this asset, extend the life of the building and facilitate the continuation of the interior building renovations, the front wall panels need to be replaced. If not replaced, they will continue to deteriorate and damage the interior of the building.

The scope of work includes but is not limited to the removal and replacement of existing wall panels, the installation of new stainless steel flashing at the base of the wall, the installation of stainless steel flashing around doors and windows and new thresholds at all doors. An additional CIP project is proposed in FY18 to complete other wall panel and roof repairs to this building; however, the front wall panel replacement must occur prior to that project due to the proximity to the ongoing interior building repairs.

This project will be contracted with Garland/DBS, Inc. through the Master Intergovernmental Cooperative Purchasing Agreement (MICPA) # 14-5903 with Cobb County, GA and U.S. Communities. These agreements leverage the purchasing potential of governmental entities. All contracts are competitively bid, and contracts are awarded in compliance with state procurement laws and regulations. Garland/DBS, Inc. has worked with the City of Sugar Land, and Facilities Management is pleased with the services rendered.

Funding for this contract is available through the Facilities Renovations CIP MU1701.
