The Animal Services division receives donations from residents, non-residents, and businesses throughout the year. City policy requires any donation exceeding $250.00 be formally accepted by City Council. Animal Services has received four donations, which are listed below and are being recommended for acceptance.

Donations to the shelter totaling $2,000.00:

• Ashley Torn is a huge animal supporter. This is her second annual donation of $1,000.00
• The Save Our Strays Club at Reading Junior High School came for a field trip in May of this year. They made adoption flyers for the shelter, learned about reptiles and helped plant plants in the butterfly garden at Memorial Park. The club voted to make a generous donation of $250.00 to the shelter for the animals
• Don and Sandra Jones generously gave a $500.00 donation to help the animals at the shelter.
• Long-time volunteer and animal lover, Beverly Smith, donated $250.00 to the shelter along with over 1,800 hours of volunteer service.

The Environmental & Neighborhood Services Department recommends that the City Council accept the Animal Services monetary donations for shelter operations in the amount of $2,000.00 and to extend the City’s gratitude for these generous donations made to the City of Sugar Land’s Animal Services.
