The Arc of Fort Bend County has requested to continue the lease agreement of Building No. 2 at the City owned 123 Brooks Street Complex for use as their administrative offices.

The Arc of Fort Bend County is a 501(c) (3) organization that provides diverse services which improve the lives of persons with intellectual and related developmental disabilities and provides a base of support for their families.

The City has leased the property located at 123 Brooks Street to The Arc of Fort Bend County since 2006 for an annual fee of $1.00. The current two-year lease expires August 20, 2017.

A brief summary of the lease terms is provided below:

• The Lease payment per year is $1.00
• The Lease automatically renews for successive one-year terms
• The City is responsible for the roof and exterior wall repairs
• The City is responsible for maintaining heating and air conditioning equipment
• The Arc is responsible for maintaining the interior
• The Arc will provide utilities and phone service
• The City of Lessee may terminate the lease at any time by providing the other party 90 days written notice prior to the termination date

The Environmental & Neighborhood Services staff has coordinated with The Arc of Fort Bend County regarding the provisions within the contract, and the lease agreement was executed by The Arc of Fort Bend County on July 12, 2017.

The Environmental & Neighborhood Services Department recommends that the City Council authorize the execution of a Lease Agreement between the City of Sugar Land and The Arc of Fort Bend County.
