AGENDA CAPTION:
Consideration of and action on authorizing execution of an Interlocal Agreement by and between the City of Sugar Land and Harris County Department of Education for participation in Choice Partners, a Cooperative Purchasing Program.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Enter into an Interlocal Agreement with Harris County Department of Education’s Cooperative Purchasing Program, Choice Partners to enable the City of Sugar Land to take advantage of cooperative purchasing opportunities.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Chapter 791, Tex. Gov't Code and Chapter 271, Subchapter F, Tex. Local Gov't Code, authorize cities to enter into Interlocal Agreements to take advantage of potential cost savings resulting from cooperative purchasing efforts. In accordance with Chapter 791, Tex. Gov't Code, Chapter 271, Subchapter F, Tex. Local Gov't Code and the City's Purchasing Policies, the City Council must approve all Interlocal Agreements prior to the City Manager signing the contract.

 

The City of Sugar Land would like to enter into an Interlocal Agreement with Harris County Department of Education to utilize Choice Partners, a Cooperative Purchasing Program to take advantage of competitively bid contracts for goods and services. The Cooperative Purchasing Program allows the City of Sugar Land to utilize competitively bid contracts for goods and services, like Dahill who provides Xerox copier services. There is no fee to the City to participate in this Cooperative Purchasing Program.

 

Upon approval by City of Sugar Land City Council, the agreement remains in effect unless terminated by either party with thirty days’ written notification to the other party.


The Purchasing Office recommends City Council approve the Interlocal Agreement with Harris County Department of Education to participate in the Cooperative Purchasing Program, Choice Partners.
