This is the fifth year of the city’s participation in the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) process. The 2017 priority for EMPG funding is to advance “Whole Community” Security and Emergency Management. Grant funds will be used to support local comprehensive emergency management programs to encourage improvement of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery capabilities for all hazards.
The $38,450.21 that the City will receive from this grant will provide assistance in carrying out the on-going comprehensive emergency management program that has proven itself as a major factor in Sugar Land’s commitment to be the “Safest City in America”. The Emergency Management Division will continue to participate in the EMPG process on an annual basis.
The Division of Emergency Management recommend that the City Council accept the Emergency Management Performance Grant award of $38,450.21.
